The game is on! Talking points manifesto. UPDATE
Steve doesn't do anything in the interests of Canada. And that little calculated stunt yesterday where he put off the confidence vote on Flaherty's (most likely) cooked book collection that was presented on Thursday, was just so that they could release the flying monkey's for a week to try to shift public opinion.
Kady O'Malley has been on this with much glee, and Dr Frink passed me a couple links as well today that outline the Harpercon game plan. (radio stations that they intend to hit are also in this list)
Many PB'ers have been covering the leaked email which is chock full'o'talking points. So what I would like to do, is come up with our own talking points. :) Only difference will be that ours will actually be grounded in reality. The Con's soooooooooo do not like to go there......They are so removed from reality to begin with, it would be a 6 month ocean trip for them just to even *see* what reality looks like through a telescope.
Because the progressive side generally has people who can walk and chew gum at the same time, we don't need those halting and wholeheartedly fake scripts like the knuckledragging mouthbreathers.
If you have a few minutes to listen to some of the dreck on the radio stations the cons are targeting, ( some are provided here again) and to call in......Letters to the editor are a great idea, and emails to alllllll your freinds. (If someone has time to draft a nice snappy email that can be sent around, please do!! and pass it along!)
Update: Dr Frink in the comments: The radio stations listed in that Montreal Gazette link are the Montreal area stations only! But if you go to the conservative.ca/my campaign page - and no, I'm not gonna link there - and enter your co-ordinates you'll see personalized info, customized talking points for your area.
The following items are from things that I have been finding all over the place, in point form. Supporting links provided.
- Steve was for a coalition, before he was against it. (h/t Kady O'Malley.)
- When Steve was in the opposition position, he said that minority governments needed to govern from the center as it were, in co-operation with the opposition, so that they represented all Canadians. (Kady O'Malley again)
Harper: Same thing's true in minority parliaments. The Leader of the Opposition's constitutional obligation - the obligation to Parliament - it's the reason we did the merger! - is to make sure Canadians have an alternative for government.
- 37.65% of Canadians voted for the Conservatives and their ideology, but 62.35% did not. All Canadians deserve representation.
- This delay tactic on the confidence vote this week is rather amusing, considering Stephen Harper was enraged in 2005 at the Martin Govt, when he stated "When a government starts trying to cancel dissent or avoid assent is frankly when it’s rapidly losing its moral authority to govern." (J-rad.)
- This campaign defunding is all an attempt to bankrupt the other parties financially. As Harper's past adviser and mentor, Tom Flanagan has written: "The path to Conservative political dominance is to financially bankrupt your opponents." (Thanks Dr Frink.)
- The CPoC's favourite blogger, who has previously been in the employ of the CPoC, has said this about the defunding issue: "In this the conservatives aim to level a strategic blow to the Liberals." (Scott's Diatribes)
- Do you think perhaps the CPoC coffers are so full because of schemes like the In'N'Out scandal? That was a terrific abuse of the Canadian taxpayers.
- Perhaps the Conservatives should voluntarily (and retroactively) give up the use of ten percenters? They used them over the last two years as taxpayer funded campaigning. (At that link, a poll by Angus reid shows: "49 per cent of respondents believe the mail-outs are inadmissible because they are campaign material")
Looking for more talking points, feel free to pass em along. Email me (pale dot cold at g(ee) mail dot com) or comment here...
Would a facebook group be more helpful for those that want to contribute? Let me know.

Just to point out

Yeah, they may be organized, but they are vulnerable. Trad media ahs really picked up on this 'these are issued talking points' thing. It's waaaaaay out in the open, and I couldn't be happier.
Everything's cheaper than it looks.
I would ....
... post a link, but I can't find it.
Harper, in 2004, spoke in favour and possibly voted for the Electoral Reform that limited political donations from corporations and unions and set up the infamous $1.95 subsidy per vote.
I think that is the only thing missing from your talking points.
Good on you.
[Edit]
I did find the bill ( C-24 ) as voted on in 2003. Harper spoke against it ( Hansard ) and voted against it, as near as I can tell.
Never mind
Thanks willy!
I was just about to go into hansard! Yer awesome. :)
If you believe you can tell me what to think, I believe I can tell you where to go......
Use CPC's own web form
I just sent off three letters to the editor - to G&M, NP, and a local paper -, courtesy of the CPC's web form. 'Course, I didn't use their talking points.
We don't like to link to
Those places....:) Kind of an unwritten thing around here...
Wonder how the glib and stale and national pap are gonna react when they start getting anti con talking points thru the con site tho? Too bad we don't have secret cameras. lol
