Just Faq'n around.....

Ok, so you have decided to make a post on ACR. GREAT!

But you get to the window, and theres no fancy doo-dads to format that post you want to write.....

There are two options:
The regular window, that you can post in, but you need to code it yourself. Thats fine if you know to do <img src=""width=150> off the top of your head. (Im a dork, I do.)

But your not a dork, so.

Click on the "Enable rich text" under that window, and a whole cornucopia opens up for you.....The splendors of.....well, what we at ACR call "THE RICH TEXT THINGY".

We always strive to use proper Teknikal terminology. Anyway....Oh, right.

The RTT ("RICH TEXT THINGY") is an addition to the Drupal software that looks a heck of a lot like the toolbar you would find in word. Just a couple cautions:

Don't paste already formatted text into it. It no like that, and will double format everything you do. If you choose to use the RTT, please just paste basic text, unformatted into it.

Need a tutorial? Here's a sandbox to practice in: TinyMCE sample

Now shake your socks before you come back in.

WE don't have all the features turned on, we wanted to keep it more simple for people like pale. She's a blonde yanno?

There's a link button, that I think is SUPER handy. It looks like a link. Just highlight the link name, and then click on that little link in the toolbar. A small window will appear and you can paste the link. Insert, and Bob's your uncle! You have created a purdy linkage.

NOTES FOR

Internet Explorer users:

  • Spell check works in IE.
  • IE will lose your work of art into the ozone sometimes. TIP: BEFORE YOU PREVIEW, open that box that says HTML and paste the whole werks into notepad, or wordpad. any basic text proggie. Or, as I have done just keep it in the clipboard. (thats where everything waits when you select "copy" with the right click key anyway)

Firefox:

  • Spell check resides in firefox differently. When you select preview, all the boo-boos will show up in the HTML window that appears under the preview.
  • Firefox does not appear to send your work of art into the ozone. Good to know. Lots more stable in this regard.

Again, and I cannot stress this enough, don't use the RTT for already formatted documents. Its a wunnerful thing, but it isn't able to accept other formats. The RTT works for comments too! If you didn't know that? Give it a try.

Have fun. Any questions? Ask.

Honest. If you have any problems, that's why we are here.

Bugs? let me know that too, I have a swatter handy.

G.D. aka pale.

You noticed

And I'm grateful. Thanks

I had intended

to do that weeks ago.
But there is always a shiny thing. Sorry, I hope it helps a bit.
Its a very nice thing once you figure it out actually. :)
Greenman looked at a few of them before we chose it.

Powers that be, powers of three, keep me strong during this insanity......
