File under "yeah, maybe if you've got OCD"
German research "suggests" that natural contraception (obsessive calender watching, and daily taking of your temperature and checks of your...cervical mucus) is as effective as the pill.
Sure, just ask my mom, who had 2 babies within 2 years of being married because of natural family "planning". Ahem - she was trying NOT to get pregnant. I mean, I guess I'm glad I'm here and all, but if I wasn't, I wouldn't know the difference, now would I.
Now, gals, take note because we may need to revert to this arcane and extremely complicated method of birth control if Dino Rider Day and his Christofascist followers like REALwomen get their paws on the law books regarding legality of and access to modern birth control, and/or when they convince their like-minded pharmacists that it's A-OK to refuse to fill prescriptions for the pill and Plan B on religious grounds. I hope you're good at math (BBC linky):
Start of fertile period:
The first fertile day is when the woman first identifies either: 1) first appearance or change of appearance of cervical secretion, or 2) the sixth day of the cycle.
After 12 cycles, this second guideline is replaced by a calculation that subtracts seven days from the earliest day to show a temperature rise in the preceding 12 cycles.
End of fertile period:
The fertile phase ends after the woman has identified: 1) the evening of the third day after the cervical secretion peak day, and 2) the evening when the woman measures the third higher temperature reading, with all three being higher than the previous six readings and the last one being 0.2 degrees Celsius higher than the previous six.
menstrual cycle, which alters the quantity and the consistency of
cervical mucus
Good luck, ladies. Start planning those baby showers!

Women are expected
To keep track of all this bullshit to not get pregnant, and then when it fails, we get all the joys of pregnancy..And usually the lions share of the parenting.
Hmmm.
Why do the fakewomen of Canada hate us the real women of Canada so much?
Im a little teapot....
Disconnect
And when not "carried out correctly"?
Well, let's not consider that reality 'cause it would wreck the results of the "research" and undermine any ulterior motive we may have.
Research so unconnected to human nature and the realities of everyday life simply cannot be considered reliable.
Yeah.
That's just the thing, isn't it. You know, I'm all for people using this if they want to. I'm not against it per se. I just know, since I am a DIRECT PRODUCT of it, and so is my sister, that it is not the most reliable method. And it shouldn't be touted as such.
There is no justice in Candy Land.
