Horny woodpeckers...

The last couple weeks I have been awakened several times to what sounds like a jackhammer on the roof. After the initial jarring knowledge that it's not a hangover (probably because I haven't had anything to drink) I come to the realization that it's woody......AGAIN. He sometimes starts at 6 am and goes in intervals of 15 minutes... With my nocturnal habits I may have just gotten back to sleep again after watching infomercials for a couple hours.....(Magic bullets, and hair straightening tools are my faves)

My oldest daughter who has an amazing memory for all things bugs and birds, informs me that it's actually called a sapsucker....
She also informs me that it may be an establishing territory drumming thing or.....a mating call.

Apparently we are lucky he is just after the flashing to make some racket, and not the cedar siding.....

Oy. He was just on the neighbours garage roof, pounding on a downspout.
That's why it comes through so loud and clear here too.

We have no attic, it's almost a flat roof, and woody likes to pound on the metal roof flashing and the downspout flashing.

How do we get this little bugger laid? Woody, has.......You fill in the rest.

I will try to find my slingshot today, and get the kidney bean ammo at the ready.
