Stoopid of teh week.
You know it is always a difficult decision as to which Harpercon has made the most stoopid statement of the week.
But this weeks honour goes to MP Colin Mayes, the same guy that had Giant prop cheques made with his own image on them earlier this year. Now he has been emailing his stoopid across the land!
In e-mails sent to several voters, British Columbia MP Colin Mayes wrote that the cause of climate change “has yet to be substantiated”.
“…I am careful not to over react and spend billions of taxpayer dollars because a few scientists say CO2 is causing the planet to warm,” the e-mail says.
Ya see, Mayes thinks that it is wasteful to spend billions on doing anything about climate change because of a "few scientists".
But spending Billions on the Oil patch is good, because even fewer scientists have other studies...The ones funded by big oil and other corporate poluters say that the science is not conclusive. So you see, those scientists are credible, while the other ones with no corporate funding and a real interest in helping humanity are just out to create havoc or something something.
Of course, Mr Mayes has been caught emailing the stoopid before.
In a column e-mailed this week to several B.C. newspapers in his riding of Okanagan-Shuswap, Colin Mayes said that jailing reporters might help the public get accurate information.
“Maybe it is time that we hauled off in handcuffs reporters that fabricate stories, or twist information and even falsely accuse citizens,” Mayes wrote.
See, I think that is a great idea. But insert politician where he said reporters.
Geeze, That would make for an empty parliament eh?
Gah. Thanks.

Jesus Christ!
I missed that one. Holy effing Orwell, Batman!
Of course, the CONs wouldn`t require proof to haul off such journalists. They could simply detain them under some bull shit national security claim. And since detainees, according to some CONs are not covered under anti-torture conventions, they could set up a coliseum, hold games for the public. A little bloodletting for the public to view, ripping the flesh of traitors...good for that blind patriotism, lets the public forget their own troubles.
I`m in shock. That garbage is governing our country, determining our future.
So embarrassed.
Their supporters have no fucking pride in their own country. Why on earth they want to be Bush Republicans vexes me to this day.
That reporter comment was from 2006, and it is hard to find references to it. Rabbit holed.
The media should be shouting this shit from the rooftops. Which tells you right there whose side they are on. Assholes and wusses.

the self-congratulatory stoopid
feh. MP Colin Mayes is another one of the ReformaTories' Attack Parrot™©. Just different repeating points.
My MP
As a mayor, he was a decent guy. Didn't overspend, and the potholes got fix. A bit aloof, at least towards the reserve, which colours me surprised that he's the chair of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure. * How exactly is he any sort of expert on Aboriginal Affairs (or Nothern Development, for that matter)?
He took over the ilky Darrel Stinson's spot in the Conservative party, which at the time seemed a bit incestuos as having that spot pretty much guaranteed a win in the next federal election. I didn't like that at all. It was as though he was appointed rather than elected. I suppose that's the benefit of privilege and entitlement.
Now that he has the spotlight of federal politics shining on him, I'm beginning to see that he needs the pants beat off of him in the next election. He's growing into an embarrassment along the same lines of that Stinson guy who came before him.
* He's the chair? And they're a standing committee? Maybe I'm tired or something, but that sounds hilarious
This is the guy who
This is the guy who constantly inundates our post boxes with 10% Conservaspam! Seriously, 98% of it comes from this particular MP! I am not surprised he's a climate change denier. Grrrrrr...
see what they do
They say arrest reporters but they've installed them in the Senate they hate. Kinda a strange way to show distain for two institutions at once.
Listen to Mr Day call the newly elected American govenment "The Democrat Party". Everyone knows that was a Conservative FOX rebranding trick they were PROUD OF INVENTING. So Day talks to the Democrat Party for Canada rather than the Democratic Party. Sure let's verbally insult them! Is that because they called us "parasites"?
I seem to remember that was Senator Inhofe lead Conservative Climate change denier who said that about Canada so WE are going to follow THEM in energy reduction? No Wonder Senator Duffy always SEES himself "bent over".
This spring I heard the John Birch Society is sponsoring the big Conservative Pow Wow. Let's see who goes from HERE.
Where has he been his whole
Where has he been his whole life anyway? Didn't he ever read published essay papers and articles and global warming? All corporate employees have in mind are getting more money for themselves. Maybe he is on the payroll of some of these big oil companies with no thought whatsoever of the consequences of his actions. I sure am going to be in trouble for this and might disrupt my paper writing, but who cares, right?
