No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition.
First, let us look at a definition from a dictionary:
*someone who hates and would persecute Jews
*racist: discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion.
Well, that makes a lot of sense to me. I would speak against anyone who would be discriminatory against any segment of society for racial or whatever reasons.... As me Mum would have said, assholes come in every colour. No one is any better than the other.
But why are the Harpercons so interested in literally killing any dissent or criticism against a Government? A Government that is doing some pretty horrific things to Millions of people?
Lots of theories out there, I'll leave that to the more knowledgeable sorts, I am more interested in the fact that they have decided that an elected Government, is now, a race or a total face of a nation.
I mean, I absolutely condemn the Bush admin for their awful torture practices, pre emptive wars, lies used to occupy another country causing countless hundreds of thousands of deaths..., but that does not mean I hate or condemn all Americans.
I am furious at the Harper Conservatives for their own ongoing torture scandal. That doesn't mean I hate my fellow Canadians. (I just really really dislike some of 'em. Heh.)
I think the Chinese Government are thugs and malcontents. I do not hate the Chinese people however, au contraire. I feel such empathy for them and the harshness and totalitarianism they must live under.
So the same would fit in with what is happening with public sentiment and Israel. Right?
Well, in a reality based logical world. Yes. But many of these people exist on a separate plane of existence I think. If anyone says ANYTHING.....They pull the antisemitic card out, wave it around and get all pissy about it. But now they are sounding downright dangerous. Peter Kent got on his high old horse a little while ago and proclaimed that any attack against Isreal, is an attack against Canada.....Sorry, not in my name butthead.
But something else I have been pondering.......
It really does fit into the NeoCon/fundy/regressive twit mind set doesn't it? In their world, with such limited understanding and a total disreguard for anything they choose not to understand or to delve into too deeply, everything is absolute.
A few examples of what I mean:
A dentist charged me too much. Ergo, all dentists are crooks.
A Darker skinned person mugged me. So therefore, all darker skinned people are scary and dangerous.
We know this is the way that many on the hard right think too. This is how they manage to sell the urban legend of the welfare Queens. Welfare fraud may have happened in a small percentage of cases, so that would conflate it to all cases in a tiny mind not used to actually looking outside the constructs of their own little box.
Classic projection, not taking into account that some people have a better ability to reason and separate things, and not think like pissy little bigots.
That is just a theory I am tossing out there. I would also mix it in with the other toxic ooze that is also probably part and parcel of what they are up to.
The End times and rock'n'roll. Supporting the Military Industrial complex, to help corporations. Water issues in the middle east. OIL......ETC. There are many different motivators here me thinks.
Harper and his cronies use the "supporting the troops line" which is intended to shut up critics who want to know the actual facts behind the current torture scandal. Bush did the same thing. And here we have the absolute apologists crowd using such strong language which does not apply in any way shape or form when it comes to Israel's critics mostly.
Many of the Jewish faith and of Jewish Heritage do not agree with what Israel does, and they are also getting tarred with that same brush.
And so many are cowed by that tactic, because they do not want to be seen as using hate speech. Just sit down and shut up.....It works. Just like the support the troops bullshit.....And on and on.
All of this also totally distracts from the fact that there is very real Antisemitism still going on today. Those are the people we should be condemning. But they will now get a pass mostly. More Dangerous.
And now, Harper and his cronies are going all McCarthy on us.
Let the Witch hunts and the black lists begin eh?
