Colour me surprised - CN derailment!

Lo and behold, a THIRD derailment in northern BC in six weeks. Oh, but it's okay because nobody was hurt and there were no caustic soda spills and/or fish kills THIS time. Only 29 of 99 grain cars came off the tracks. No biggie! And look, it's all fine because:

CN has pumped millions of dollars into improving the railway line in
anticipation of increased traffic in and out of Prince Rupert's new
$170-million Fairview container terminal, which was officially opened
last week.

Rest assured, CN is spending money to improve things! I know I'll sure be sleeping easier.

CN's safety record,

at least in BC, is atrocious and getting worse every month.

OTOH, their 'let's see how many more times we can fuck up and make even more cars jump off the tracks' record is awesome.

Everything's cheaper than it looks.

Ain't no big deal

They are just broadcast seeding a little winter wheat out there. Good bit of info and analysis there ff.

It is too bad that a company with one half of a monopoly can't be held to account on how they run said duopoly.
