The fallout from pale's technological meltdown last week...

Last week I wrote a rant, "That's alls I can stands, and I can't stands no more."

This week I have accomplished a few things as a result.

1) Telus has had all the extras cut. The D (dump) date for complete severance: January.

They will get no more long distance fees in the interim. Calling cards, skype, and other methods I have online will suffice.

Projected loss of revenue if I live till the age estimate projected from statistics: About $30, 000.

If we can nuke the cell fones my family is addicted to: make that about $80, 000.

How was that for you telus?

It was good for me. Think I need a smoke........Mmmmmmmmmmm.....

2)The cable company got a call, and all the extra digital channels were axed. Lifetime projected loss: $10, 000.

They did however, make a huge concession and replaced my modem today. Its a new format too. Seems faster. wheeeeeee. I can terrorize the net at my leisure. I also mentioned that the tech dept needs socialization. They suck at service.

Brownie points.

3)Hydro: Not too much I can do. Yet. But that is under discussion and the ultimate goal is removing ourselves from the grid.

4)MSN: I am using windows messenger. No bells and whistles, but no ads! Projected loss: Have no idea. Don't care. and they can still bite my fat white ass.

Nice work!

Nothing like phoning up the phone company and telling them to get stuffed. I used to have internet service with Telus, but their slow connection, random outages and slow service finally drove me to Shaw. The guy on the phone was frantic trying to keep me. By the end of it, he offered to give me 6 months free internet. My response was that I wasn't happy with the quality of the service, free crap is still crap...

Possible cases against telcos, government re US spying?

Most Canadian ISP's, I learned, are rented from or routed through the USA. The Canadian gov has done nothing to inform or protect citizens regarding this.
Will there be a way to sue telephone companies and government on behalf of citizens - not just Americans?
